Staying at Biwako Hotel was a highlight of my trip to Otsu! The room felt incredibly spacious, designed well, and had a magnificent view of Lake Biwa, perfect for morning coffee on the terrace. I was delighted by the cleanliness and comfort of the Deluxe Twin Room. Breakfast offered a decent variety, and having a buffet with good choices every morning made my stay even better. The public bath was a nice feature, providing a relaxing spot after a busy day of exploring. I was impressed by the shuttle service to Otsu Station, which made it easy to get around. However, I did notice the absence of a convenience store nearby, making late-night snacks a bit challenging. It would be great to have more dining options within walking distance, as exploring nearby cafes involves a bit more walking than anticipated. All in all, this hotel is a gem for its views and comfort.

The outdoor pool opens late in June, which is disappointing!!! The surrounding town offers very little for entertainment or dining options, making it seem isolated. Rooms could use modernization to eliminate dated vibes!!!

the breakfast was an absoluteley chaotic mess, with no beef stew refill, how scandalous! having to wait an eternity for a table isn’t exactly 5-star treatment. woudl ve been nice to receive a complimentary drink for the inconvenience, but alas, simply regular treatment here. i almost gave a good review, but couldn’t let that slide.

Recommend it for solo travelers

Had an amazing time seeing the beautiful lake view every morning from my enormous room. I enjoyed riding around on a bike they provided, gliding along the waterfront was just perfect.

biwako hotel has a fantastic location right by the lake, making it perfect for morning views. the deluxe twin room was spacious and comfortable, and the public bath featuring natural hot springs was a nice relaxation spot. the staff were incredibly helpful throughout my stay, making everything seamless.

I loved waking up to the magnificent view of the lake from my spacious room and being just a few steps from dining options like Teppanyaki Oomi, which made my weekend city strolls even more enjoyable.

Free parking and good restaurant, but wi-fi was spotty and housekeeping could improve.

The location is perfect by the lake, and the public bath was clean and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and super helpful, assisting with our luggage and providing great restaurant tips.
